The Discovery Playground at Hinsdale Park

The Discovery Playground is an inclusive, STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) playground design and gathering space. This park aims to bring “Every Day Science” to the playground and strives to integrate outdoor play with an existing forest.

This highly accessible playground design was a collaboration between the Maria Mitchell Science Center of Nantucket and the Nantucket Land Bank.  Included on this playground is the Netplex Structure, Sensory Wall, Cozy Dome, Global Motion and HealthBeat Fitness Equipment seen here, as well as a 66 foot long Zip-Krooz with both pendulum seats and inclusive seats, a ramped structure, and a collection of musical instruments.
